The Benefits of Crowns at NewDental
- Metal -Hardwearing and durable, these less-subtle crowns are perfect for restoring damaged molars hidden at the back of your mouth. Metal crowns are ideal for bringing strength to the chewing surfaces of your hardest-working teeth.
- Resin – Crowns made from resin look the part. They’re not as durable as metal or porcelain crowns, but they are a cost-effective option.
- Porcelain – Want the best of both worlds? Porcelain crowns look totally natural and give you the confidence to bite and chew again.
The Benefits of Crowns at NewDental
Bring Back Your Bite
Eating with failing teeth often means carefully moving food around your mouth to avoid discomfort. You may use one side of your mouth more than the other, which can cause discomfort. Crowns cap your teeth and let you effortlessly chew and bite again.
Bring Back Your Smile
If that damaged tooth has you frowning, a natural-looking crown will give you something worth smiling about. We colour-match the materials used for your crown so nobody will notice it’s there, leaving you with a flawless smile.
Bring Back Your Confidence
Damage through injury or decay can harm the way you feel about yourself. Restoring your smile with a crown is a great way to rebuild your self-esteem. Once your crown is placed, the change in your appearance is immediate.
Bring Back Your Health
Crowns might restore your smile’s aesthetics, but that extra layer of protection also keeps bacteria at bay. When you have a damaged tooth, infection is always a risk. By rebuilding your tooth, there’s less chance of further issues.
Your Coronation Ceremony
Consultation
Our team will begin your crown treatment process with a consultation. During this short appointment, we’ll examine your tooth, discuss which material suits you best and what you should expect from the procedure, and answer your questions.
Preparation
We’ll need to prep your tooth by reshaping it. Next, we’ll take impressions of your tooth so the lab can create a custom crown that fits perfectly.
Your comfort is important to us. We’ll provide anaesthetics during the preparation and placement to ensure a painless experience.
Placement
When the crown is ready, we’ll place it. We’ll then bond your crown into position and ensure it’s comfortable and looks perfect.
Dental Bridges for Missing Teeth
Negative feelings about an incomplete smile are only part of the problem when teeth are lost. Food can become trapped in the gap, and chewing and biting become challenging. Bacteria will build up in the newly formed spaces, increasing the risk of gum disease and tooth decay.
A gap may lead to problems further along, too. Neighbouring teeth may drift, causing imbalances in your smile. I can complete your smile using a lifelike dental bridge.
Bridges are custom-made replacement teeth which are supported by your natural teeth. There are three options.
Traditional Bridge
Your new tooth is held in place from both sides using dental crowns, which are bonded to your healthy teeth.
Cantilever Bridge
We may use a cantilever bridge if you only have one natural tooth available to support the replacement tooth.
Maryland Bridge
This option doesn’t require crowns. Instead, it uses metal wings bonded to the backs of your natural teeth to hold your new tooth in place.
The Benefits of Bridges
For a Better Bite
A gap in your teeth can impact your ability to bite and chew, preventing you from eating certain foods. A dental bridge lets you eat confidently and enjoy your favourite meals again.
For a Better Smile
Losing prominent teeth impacts the appearance of your entire smile. The gap may be all you see when you look in the mirror. Bridges complete and rebalance the appearance of your smile.
For Better Confidence
If you’ve lived with a gap in your smile, it leaves a hole in your confidence. Bridges rebuild your smile, giving you a boost of self-esteem.
For Better Health
Closing the gap in your smile makes brushing easier and removes the hiding places where bacteria cause harm. Completing your smile also prevents long-term issues like dental drift.
Building Bridges
Consultation
Before placing your bridge, we’ll assess your suitability for the procedure. Your initial appointment lets us discuss your treatment options and explore the various stages.
Preparation
The preparation and placement stages will vary depending on which type of bridge we’re placing. We may need to prepare your tooth for the crowns supporting the replacement tooth.
Before we do anything, we’ll provide you with an anaesthetic to reduce discomfort. Next, we’ll remove a small portion of the supporting teeth and take impressions, which will be sent to the lab to create your custom bridge.
Placement
Once your bridge is ready, we’ll place it. I’ll ensure you’re comfortable while we bond your bridge into position.
After it’s in place, our team will give you some essential care advice to keep your new smile looking good.
